This is a collaborative study with investigators from Macquarie University in NSW, The University of Melbourne and Cardiff University in the UK. The aim of PATPA, is to investigate the psychological, social and biological determinants of first-time mothers’ adjustment to parenthood. This is a prospective longitudinal study of a representative sample of almost 500 women, half of whom have conceived with ART and the other half spontaneously. These women are interviewed and complete postal questionnaires in late pregnancy and four moths after the birth.
