Summary
This research aims to measure the incidence and re-infection rates of chlamydia infection among Australian women aged 16 to 25 years. Eligible women are recruited from general practice clinics, sexual health clinics and family planning clinics in Victoria, New South Wales and Canberra. Women are asked to provide a self collected vaginal swab through the mail for chlamydia testing every 3-6 months. Women testing positive are given a telephone consultation and provided with appropriate treatment free of charge.
The results of this project will be used to determine the optimal chlamydia screening interval for Australian women. Further information about this study can be found on the following web-page: www.mshc.org.au/ciris
